Night was amazing. Best sound we’ve ever had. We could finally hear ourselves. Lots of mates turned up. Cheers helped move the gig along. Nine songs spanning exactly 45 minutes. We ditched the cover coz it wasn’t 100% ready. First five songs were written ten years ago. The last four songs were new, written only very recently. The newer songs seem to be the preferred songs, which is good news for us. As I said during the gig, “We can only write more new songs.” We ended the night with “It’s Always Summer,” the same song we submitted for Baybeats 2010 audition. We implored the crowd to help get us through to the auditions, by clapping harder or something. We didn’t know it was too late. Found out this morning that there already is a shortlist––and we’re not on it.

This was taken in our dressing room before the gig. Never sat in one before. It had lots of dressing tables, mirrors, lockers and an on-suite bathroom, which, for some reason, smelled of balloons.
